The Council, working in partnership with CCG (Scotland), embarked on a strategic, affordable housebuilding journey in 2017 and since then, over 260 new high-quality, highly energy-efficient homes have been created across the region.
Steps are now being taken in response to the emerging climate and cost of living crisis with a move towards net zero carbon housing delivery with two new developments located in Kilmarnock and Mauchline respectively.
Works commenced at Bellevue Road in Bonnyton, just west of Kilmarnock’s town centre, in 2022 and the development was completed in spring 2023. Comprising 18 three and four-bedroom homes including 1, fully wheelchair-accessible bungalow, it is the first-ever net zero Council development in East Ayrshire, achieving operational net zero carbon through a mix of enhanced building fabric and a zero-emissions energy strategy.
Kilmarnock Road in Mauchline will be the Council’s second official net zero development and will comprise the delivery of assisted living properties in the form of 14, one-bedroom flats alongside 3, one and two-bedroom bungalows.
In removing Gas, Arc-Tech MU’s duel-fuel, Electrical and Water services package has supported each build.
